Several updates to the speculative fiction markets cheat sheet today.
The biggest news is that Lightspeed and Fantasy are merging, and so Lightspeed will publish both science fiction and fantasy stories now (although the same total number of stories will still be published every month). Lightspeed is closed to fantasy submissions at the moment, but you can check out their new guidelines at the usual URL.
Apex is no longer using the HeyPublisher submissions system (anything sent via that system after the 31st will be auto-rejected). Instead, they’ll be taking submissions via email from here on out. The maximum word count they’ll accept has decreased to 5000, and I’ve updated the guidelines URL.
At some point when I wasn’t looking, Analog updated its guidelines with an expected response time (5 weeks, query after 3 months).
Finally, Strange Horizons will be closed for an extra month this winter, reopening on February 1.
I might make an actual post about my life soon, but if not… happy holidays, everyone!
